Mission

The NDIA Business Institute (BI) is the professional education and training arm of the National Defense Industrial Association. Our mission is to strengthen the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) by delivering practical, mission-aligned education that empowers individuals and organizations to thrive in the complex world of defense acquisition and contracting.

The BI is distinct in its focus on defense outcomes, built-in trust, and access to a broad community of government and industry leaders.

  • Mission-first: Rooted in real-world defense needs and policy priorities.
  • Nonprofit-driven: No commercial agenda, just impact and accessibility.
  • Connected community: Taps into NDIA’s network of practitioners, decision-makers, and innovators.
  • Flexible, scalable delivery: In-person, virtual, and cohort-based training solutions.

Through flexible, high-impact programming—delivered virtually and in-person—we help translate strategy into skill, policy into practice, and potential into performance across the defense ecosystem. We continue building a flexible, forward-leaning curriculum that addresses the critical needs of today’s defense workforce—while preparing for tomorrow’s demands. These five core pillars shape our approach to program design and signal the areas where we are actively developing new content, partnerships, and instructor-led experiences.

The DIB faces increasing pressure to deliver innovation at speed, maintain compliance, and develop a workforce ready for 21st-century challenges. Yet many professionals and companies—especially small and mid-sized firms—lack access to trusted, relevant, and actionable training tailored to the realities of doing business with the Department of Defense.

The NDIA Business Institute exists to close this gap.
